They are great for both small and large projects and make many tasks much easier due to their power and portability. However, a power tool without power is really no tool at all and will be of little use to anyone. Yet many power tool batteries lose their power due to improper care and the somewhat costliness of replacement power tool batteries causes a lot of power tools to lie dormant. That being said, here are some useful tips for keeping your power tool batteries in the best possible condition to ensure that you’re not left scratching your head next time you need to use your power tool.

First off, most power tool batteries are made up of several smaller cells packed inside the battery casing. These cells are predominantly NiCD, meaning that the same rules for all NiCD batteries apply here as well. These batteries have a tendency to develop a memory effect. In order to ensure that your power tool battery doesn’t lose a significant amount of its runtime, it is important to practice smart charging behavior. Power tool batteries should be power cycled (fully discharged and fully charged) at least once every few weeks to guard against the memory effect.

Have you ever stored a car or lawnmower for the winter and tried to start it a few months later only to find that the battery is dead? The same will happen to a power tool battery if not properly maintained. This is probably the number one killer of power tool batteries today, especially for those that only use their tools for odd and end jobs every now and then. If the battery is not taken from storage and charged/discharged occasionally, it will certainly fail to function when you need it. When you do store power tool batteries, make sure to store them in a dry, cool, clean place away from metal and heat. Never store power tool batteries on the charger, as this will overcharge the battery and also diminish its runtime.

Many people use power tools in some pretty rough places, such as construction sites, mechanic shops, and landscaping areas. This means that power tool batteries often become dirty and should be cleaned to keep them working correctly. To ensure that dirt doesn’t interfere with the battery connections and cause the tool not to function normally, clean the battery contacts with some alcohol and cotton swabs.

If you do have a power tool battery that no longer takes a full charge or simply will not function at all, it may be time to consider having the battery rebuilt. The rebuilding process involves opening the battery casing and replacing the smaller individual cells inside with new rechargeable cells. This process often costs much less than the price of a new battery and most batteries can even be improved by using higher capacity cells which allow the battery to last longer in between charges.

Article Source: http://www.articlesbase.com/technology-articles/power-tool-battery-care-441754.html

Where You Can Find Cheap Tungsten Carbide Ring

A few years back I was one to shy away from any kind of shopping online till I came across ebay.

I have purchased many items off of ebay since. So, how did we arrive at the place where carbide was invented and the use became so widespread? Well, carbide was a derivative of hard metal. Until the turn of the century, and the onset of the industrial revolution, hard metal was the best the industry had to offer.

Unfortunately, the best the industry had to offer wasn’t all that good. Scientists and metal workers had already devoted a great deal of time to the creation of a harder substance, when, along came carbide. What scientists and metal workers discovered, was that if you decrease the iron (Fe) with harder carbide substances, you got a harder cutting tool.

A metal known as tungsten carbide was introduced into the market during the 1920s and you have the invention of carbide cutting tools. The industrial world was rapidly changed, and as you can see, today we have benefited greatly from this discovery.

Along with the introduction of carbide cutting tools, came the industrial revolution and although there was some modification of machinery, the industry was welcoming this new tool with open arms. The hotter the cutting process, the harder the cutting tool needed to be, and with the progress of machinery, tools, and man’s hunger for automation, the carbide tool filled a much needed space.

The hard carbide particles most often used in carbide cutting tools are those of tungsten carbide, titanium carbide and tantalum carbide grains. The carbide cutting tools are made by using a metallurgical powder, pressing it into a die, and then heating it in a furnace to a temperature of at least 1400 degrees Celsius. That’s extremely hot, but carbide is extremely tough!

How To Identify Carbide Tipped Router Bits And Saw Blades

Most all saw blades are carbide tipped, except for some specialty saw blades like thin kerf plywood saw blades.

What is so great about carbide tipped saw blade or router bit?

Tungsten carbide is an extremely hard metal that holds its profile and edge much better than any of the high speed steel alloys. It is also very brittle.

How can I tell if a saw blade is carbide tipped?

Look at the tips of the saw blade if the tips have a darker square metal on the ends that is slightly thicker a than the saw blade body, it is carbide tipped.

How to identify carbide tipped router bits.

Carbide router bits have a steel body with the carbide metal being attached to the cutting face of the router bit. The carbide will run the length of the cutting face of the router bit. It will also extend about a 1/16 of an inch beyond the steel body. The carbide plate is typically about 1/8 of an inch thick.

Helpful video on caring for your router bits

Why carbide gravers win over steel gravers everytime

Manufacturer of tungsten carbide Carbide tool , Mchinery Carbide Kinde of Carbide , Carbide saw for sale , Hitashi Carbide , Carbide Books Carbide teamplate , Garment Carbide , Thai Carbide , Japan Carbise , China Carbide , Quality Carbide
Over the past few years there has been a lot of controversy over whether to use a carbide graver over a steel graver. Often the incorrect grade of tungsten carbide is used when manufacturing carbide gravers and therefore their quality is undermined. Should the correct grade of carbide be chosen there is no reason you should ever have to use a steel graver again.

Tungsten Carbide has proven over many years to be a reliable and effective material to manufacture cutting tools. The main reasons for its superior performance is that extreme hardness can be achieved and Tungsten Carbides ability to continue to retain its properties, even when glowing red hot. Some knowledge of the material is required in order to select the correct grade for the application required. Tungsten Carbide is a brittle material and care must be taken to avoid damaging the cutting edge by chipping - this is where the correct grade selection is most important to offer a material that will perform well in the task and resist wear for repeated operations. A great deal of time needs to be taken in testing various grades of Tungsten Carbide to obtain the optimum grade for use with carbide gravers.

In the main, performance is subject to the material hardness/toughness relationship and this can be varied by adjusting the materials used for the powder production of tungsten carbide. Hard particles of Tungsten Carbide can be produced in a range of grain sizes the smaller the grain size the harder the TC alloy will be. The other main constituent part is the cement that holds the TC particles within the structure and this is usually the metal cobalt, by adjusting the amount of cobalt in the structure this can have an effect of increasing the toughness as the cobalt amount increases.

Summing up tungsten carbide can be adjusted in hardness, toughness by varying the amount of cobalt and the grain size of the TC particles. This will give a wide range of adjustment in hardness, from about 800 vickers hardness up to in excess of 2,500 vickers hardness. With this large variation in hardness/toughness available it can be seen that there is plenty of scope for an inappropriate grade of carbide to be supplied for use as a carbide graver.

If the correct grade is chose of tungsten carbide then here are the top five benefits of carbide gravers achieved over steel gravers:

1. Carbide Gravers will last 100 times longer. This means they work out being cheaper over the long run.

2. Carbide Gravers cut even the hardest materials. You are not limited with what you can cut, even high grade watch staffs, French clock arbors etc which steel gravers cannot touch

3. Far superior finish transferred on to your work. Maintains a much higher level of polish which is transferred onto your work.

4. Carbide Gravers stay sharper longer. Resulting in more time working and less in resharpening.

5. Cut Quicker with less effort. Some people have described as cuts like "a knife through butter"

Eternal Tools is the leading supplier / manufacturer of Modern Clock & Watch repair tools worldwide. The result is a cobalt-based catalyst of the ideal crystal size to provide the optimum level of activity in a microchannel reactor.

The FT reaction is a key technology for producing second-generation biofuels from agricultural waste. Because it takes one tonne of biomass to produce one barrel of liquid fuel, small-scale Fischer-Tropsch reactors are being developed to convert the waste on a distributed basis locally rather than at large collection centres. Microchannel reactors are potentially the best candidates for this job because they enable more efficient and precise temperature control, leading to higher throughput and conversion. They are also able to dissipate the heat produced from the FT reaction more quickly than conventional systems. But to work efficiently, microchannel reactors require an FT catalyst with a high level of activity in order to boost the conversion rates to an economic level. The new FT catalyst developed by Oxford Catalysts fits this bill exactly.

Following several thousands of hours of rigorous testing, Oxford Catalysts has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with a leading developer of small scale FT microchannel reactors to deploy the new catalyst in small-scale FT applications, including the conversion of bio-waste or flare gas into liquid fuels.

Derek Atkinson, Business Development Director, Oxford Catalysts says:

"We have spent 12 months working on developing this particular catalyst, using our state-of-the-art equipment and our patented OMX method, and are very pleased with the results. The next stage will involve working closely with a catalyst producer to supply tonnage quantities for use in demonstration units. It may touch a higher on the support of energy, feedstock and transportation constraint. As for polyvinyl chloride manufacturers those use calcium carbide as raw materials, such a high calcium carbide price is hardly afforded while the price of polyvinyl chloride nearly remained unchanged in the first half. High cost forced these polyvinyl chloride manufacturers cut down their feedstock inventories and operation rates.

High inflation may be the main reason of short supply. Coal price rocketed, resulting in a power deficit, then the calcium carbide producers run well below the full capacity and some producers in northern regions started to repair their facilities. This clearance is referred to as cutting relief.

These tools are best used as deburring tools, where the burr from a previous machining operation needs to be removed for cosmetic and safety reasons, however they may be used in softer materials (such as wood or plastic) to create a countersunk hole for a screw.

Diamond tools

A diamond tool is a cutting tool which contains diamond segments bonded to a base material, for cutting through a wide variety of non-ferrous materials. The segments are composed of diamond crystals and powder metal which form the bond, or 'matrix', of the segments.

When used for grinding, the bond is one of the prime factors when selecting which tool to use for cutting a specific material depending on how hard, or abrasive, the material is. The bond is what decides the rate at which the metallic powders wear down and expose new diamond crystals at the surface to maintain what would be considered a “sharp” edge.

Diamonds should not be used for cutting steel or iron, as carbon will dissolve into the workpiece and lead to tool wear and work hardening. Three other materials are used for cutting steels where diamond would be used: Cubic boron nitride (cBN, the second hardest material known), aluminum oxide, and silicon nitride tooling may be used.

For grinding or sawing hard materials, a diamond blade with a soft bond would be needed. This means the metallic powders in the segments (teeth) of the diamond blade wear fast enough to release old, dull crystals, exposing new diamond at the edges to continue cutting efficiently. Inversely, to cut a soft abrasive material like asphalt or freshly poured concrete, you would need to use a diamond blade with a hard bond so that the segments do not wear down prematurely and the blade is not put to waste. Diamond is especially suited to cut highly abrasive materials, such as ceramics.

The diamonds used in these tools are synthetic or natural industrial diamond of different grain sizes and shapes.

Woodturning

Woodturning is a form of woodworking that is used to create wooden objects on a lathe. Woodturning differs from most other forms of woodworking in that the wood is moving while a (relatively) stationary tool is used to cut and shape it. Many intricate shapes and designs can be made by turning wood.

There are two distinct methods of turning wood: spindle turning and faceplate turning. In spindle turning, the grain of the wood runs lengthwise, parallel to the bed of the lathe. In face plate turning, the grain of the wood runs perpendicular to the axis of rotation. Most bowls, platters and many vessels are face plate turned. Pens, furniture legs, spindles, and some vessels are spindle turned. It is the orientation of the grain that determines the method in use. Spindle turning is named for the type of product originally produced, while faceplate turning is named for an early method of attaching the material to the lathe.

The distinction between spindle turning and faceplate turning is due to the fibrous nature of the material. When wood is cut in such a way that the fiber being cut is not supported by the fiber below it, it tends to separate and tear. This "tearout" exhibits a rough, highly undesirable surface texture and greatly reduces the value of any product exhibiting it. The direction of cut is different in spindle turning and faceplate turning because cutting in the wrong direction can cause tearout. Spindle turning cuts are made from high points toward the axis on the outside of the piece, and from the axis toward the outside when hollowing. When faceplate turning, the opposite applies.

Cutting tool

In the context of metalworking, a cutting tool, is any tool that is used to remove metal from the workpiece by means of shear deformation. If our system finds a suitable keyword in your blog, then a Javascript link automatically appears. If an advertiser places their mouse over the link, a mini store with a related product showcase appears. Every time a visitor clicks on a product, you make money.

For example, if your blog has a word such as “mobile phone”, then a link will be placed on that text. If a visitors rolls their mouse over that text, it will open a mini store banner showcasing related phones. If the visitor clicks on the phone they will be taken to a shopping comparison site where they can buy that product. For the click through, you will receive a commission. Customizable banners are also placed for maximum exposure.

what about the UP Cutting Tool Blanks?

Manufacturer of tungsten carbide Carbide tool , Mchinery Carbide Kinde of Carbide , Carbide saw for sale , Hitashi Carbide , Carbide Books Carbide teamplate , Garment Carbide , Thai Carbide , Japan Carbise , China Carbide , Quality Carbide

The Sumicrystal UP cutting tool blanks are just that...cutting tool blanks. With a hardness of 9.3 on the mohs scale, it is the fifth hardest material known behind boron nitride, diamond, ultrahard fullerite, and aggregated diamond nanorods.

Discovered in the 19th century as a by-product of reactions involving metal borides, it was not until the 1930s that the material was studied scientifically. Boron carbide is now produced industrially by the carbo-thermal reduction of B2O3 (boron oxide) in an electric arc furnace.

Its ability to absorb neutrons without forming long lived radionuclides makes the material attractive as an absorbent for neutron radiation arising in nuclear power plants. Nuclear applications of boron carbide include shielding, control rod and shut down pellets.

I want Know A Bout Chromium carbide

Manufacturer of tungsten carbide Carbide tool , Mchinery Carbide Kinde of Carbide , Carbide saw for sale , Hitashi Carbide , Carbide Books Carbide teamplate , Garment Carbide , Thai Carbide , Japan Carbise , China Carbide , Quality Carbide

Chromium carbide (Cr3C2) is an extremely hard refractory ceramic material. It is usually processed by sintering. It has the appearance of a gray powder with orthorhombic crystal structure. Its CAS number is 12012-61-9.

Other compositions are available, eg. Cr23C6, and Cr7C3.

Chromium carbide is used as a thermal spray material for protecting the underlying metal surface, and as an additive to corrosion-resistant and wear-resistant materials. It is used in coatings of bearings, seals, orifices, and valve seals, and as a fine-crystal phase in other sintered carbides, where, like the vanadium carbide, it inhibits growth of submicron grains during pressing and sintering. It is highly corrosion-resistant, and does not oxidize even at high temperature (1000-1100 °C). The powder for coating costs $40-$65 per pound.

The thermal expansion coefficient of chromium carbide is almost equal to that of steel, reducing the mechanical stress buildup at the layer boundary.

Precipitation of chromium carbide at the grain boundaries, depleting the grain edges of chromium, is the cause of intergranular corrosion of stainless steel near the welds.

A Tantalum carbide Products Profile

Manufacturer of tungsten carbide Carbide tool , Mchinery Carbide Kinde of Carbide , Carbide saw for sale , Hitashi Carbide , Carbide Books Carbide teamplate , Garment Carbide , Thai Carbide , Japan Carbise , China Carbide , Quality Carbide

Tantalum carbide
Tantalum carbide (TaC) is an extremely hard refractory ceramic material, commercially used in tool bits for cutting tools. It has the appearance of black powder with NaCl-type face centered cubic crystal structure. It is mainly used in preparation of cermets, which are frequently used to machine steel materials at high cutting speed.

The resistance to wear, corrosion, and oxidation of a tungsten carbide-cobalt material can be increased by adding 6-30% of titanium carbide to tungsten carbide. This forms a solid solution that is more brittle and susceptible to breakage than the original material.

Tool bits without tungsten content can be made of titanium carbide in nickel-cobalt matrix cermet, enhancing the cutting speed, precision, and smoothness of the workpiece. This material is sometimes called high-tech ceramics and is used as a heat shield for atmospheric re-entry of space shuttles and similar vehicles. The substance may be also polished and used in scratch-proof watches

Union Carbide Corporation

Manufacturer of tungsten carbide Carbide tool , Mchinery Carbide Kinde of Carbide , Carbide saw for sale , Hitashi Carbide , Carbide Books Carbide teamplate , Garment Carbide , Thai Carbide , Japan Carbise , China Carbide , Quality Carbide

Union Carbide Corporation (Union Carbide) is one of the oldest chemical and polymers companies in the United States, and currently has more than 3,800 employees.

In 1920, its researchers developed an economical way to make ethylene from natural gas, giving birth to the modern petrochemicals industry. Carbon products business is renamed UCAR Carbon Company and industrial gas business is named Union Carbide Industrial Gases Inc.

Union Carbide and Union Carbide India Limited enter into a $470 million legal settlement with the Government of India, which represented all claimants in the Bhopal gas tragedy case. The settlement is affirmed by the Supreme Court of India, which describes it as "just, equitable and reasonable," and settles all claims arising out of the incident.

1991 Mitsubishi Corporation buys 50% stake in UCAR Carbon; UCAR Carbon later becomes a publicly traded independent company.

1992 Union Carbide Industrial Gases is spun-off as an independent company. Its name changes to Praxair, Inc.

1994 Sale of Union Carbide's 50.9% interest in Union Carbide India Limited to McLeod Russell is completed and the approximately $90 million from the sale is donated to a charitable trust to build a hospital in Bhopal for the victims.

1995 Union Carbide and Polimeri Europa S.r.l., form a 50-50 ethylene/polyethylene joint venture to produce polyethylene for the European market.

Union Carbide and two partners (Petrochemical Industries Company and Boubyan Petrochemical, both of Kuwait) form Equate Petrochemical Company to build and operate a petrochemicals complex in Kuwait. Products include ethylene, polyethylene and ethylene glycol.

1998 UCC and Petronas (the national oil company of Malaysia) form a joint venture to build a new petrochemical complex in Malaysia to produce ethylene oxide and its derivatives and oxo alcohols and oxo derivatives.

1999 On August 4, Union Carbide and The Dow Chemical Company announce an $11.6 billion transaction that would result in Union Carbide becoming a wholly owned subsidiary of The Dow Chemical Company.

2001 On February 6, Union Carbide Corporation becomes a wholly owned subsidiary of The Dow Chemical Company.

2006 Second Circuit Court of Appeals in New York upholds the dismissal of the remaining claims in the 7-year-old Sajido Bano case versus Union Carbide Corporation, thereby denying plaintiffs' motions for class certification, property damages and remediation of the Bhopal plant site in India by Union Carbide. The ruling reaffirms UCC's long-held positions.

Thai Tungsten carbide

Thai Tungsten carbide Manufacturer of tungsten carbide Carbide tool , Mchinery Carbide Kinde of Carbide , Carbide saw for sale , Hitashi Carbide , Carbide Books Carbide teamplate , Garment Carbide , Thai Carbide , Japan Carbise , China Carbide , Quality Carbide

Monotungsten carbide, WC, or Ditungsten Carbide, W2C, is a chemical compound containing tungsten and carbon, similar to titanium carbide. Its extreme hardness makes it useful in the manufacture of cutting tools, abrasives and bearings, as a cheaper and more heat-resistant alternative to diamond. Tungsten carbide is also used as a scratch-resistant material for jewelry including watch bands and wedding rings.

Uses in machine tools

Carbide cutting surfaces are often useful when machining through materials such as carbon steel or stainless steel, as well as in situations where other tools would wear away, such as high-quantity production runs. Sometimes, carbide will leave a better finish on the part, and allow faster machining. Carbide tools can also withstand higher temperatures than standard high speed steel tools. The material is usually tungsten-carbide cobalt, also called "cemented carbide", a metal matrix composite where tungsten carbide particles are the aggregate and metallic cobalt serves as the matrix.

Machining with carbide can be difficult, as carbide is more brittle than other tool materials, making it susceptible to chipping and breaking. To offset this, many manufacturers sell carbide inserts and matching insert holders. With this setup, the small carbide insert is held in place by a larger tool made of a less brittle material (usually steel). This gives the benefit of using carbide without the high cost of making the entire tool out of carbide. Also, Most modern face mills use carbide inserts, as well as some lathe tools and endmills.

To increase the life of carbide tools, they are sometimes coated. Four such coatings are TiN (titanium nitride), TiC (titanium carbide), Ti(CN) (titanium carbide-nitride), and TiAlN (Titanium Aluminum Nitride). (Newer coatings, known as DLC (Diamond Like Coating) are beginning to surface, enabling the cutting power of diamond without the unwanted chemical reaction between real diamond and iron.) Most coatings generally increase a tool's hardness and/or lubricity. A coating allows the cutting edge of a tool to cleanly pass through the material without having the material gall (stick) to it. The coating also helps to decrease the temperature associated with the cutting process and increase the life of the tool. The coating is usually deposited via thermal CVD. However if the deposition is performed at too high temperature, an eta phase of a Co6W6C tertiary carbide forms at the interface between the carbide and the cobalt phase, facilitating adhesion failure of the coating.

Tree Shape Radius End for Non-Ferrous Materials

Manufacturer of tungsten carbide Carbide tool , Mchinery Carbide Kinde of Carbide , Carbide saw for sale , Hitashi Carbide , Carbide Books Carbide teamplate , Garment Carbide , Thai Carbide , Japan Carbise , China Carbide , Quality Carbide Tree Shape Radius End for Non-Ferrous Materials

Get free shipping on this item when you spend $99.00 or more on Qualifying Items offered by ASUPERSHOP. His vision was to create remarkable timepieces that pushed the envelope of innovation and precision. The company's reputation grew and Heuer's first patent for a chronograph mechanism in 1882 was followed by a long list of achievements: the first stopwatch accurate to 1/100 of a second, the first dashboard stopwatch for race cars, the first miniature electronic timekeeping device accurate to 1/1000th of a second, and the first automatic movement with a microrotor, to name just a few. Over the years, Heuer's reputation for gold-standard precision earned the company the privilege of providing official timing services for a number of world-class competitive sporting events, including the Olympic Games, the FIS Ski World Cup, and the FIA Formula 1 World Championships. To this day, TAG Heuer maintains a close association with the world of competitive sports and enjoys a devoted following among sports celebrities and enthusiasts. In 1985, Heuer joined the TAG (Techniques D'Avant-Garde) group, and the TAG Heuer name and logo were created. Now one of the most recognized and sought-after watch brands in the world, TAG Heuer continues its reputation of innovative design and technological excellence, creating prestigious timepieces that are always at the cutting edge of precision, reliability and style.

Product Description
Stainless Steel Case & Bracelet, Black Dial, Black Unidirectional Turning Bezel. Then check out the Drill Doctor 750X drill bit sharpener. This cleverly designed, easy-to-use tool gives new life to old, dull bits. It accepts bits ranging in diameter from 3/32 inch to 3/4 inch and works somewhat like an electric pencil sharpener: Tighten a dull drill bit into the removable chuck, then insert the chuck into the sharpener. Inside is a (replaceable) diamond wheel that quickly sharpens the bit tip. There are two preset positions for honing the two most common drill-bit tip angles: 118 degrees and 135 degrees.

The Drill Doctor 750X will sharpen high-speed steel twist bits, carbide-tipped masonry bits, and titanium-coated bits. It will even sharpen split-point bits and create split-points from standard bits. It comes with a blow-molded storage case, detailed owner’s manual and an instructional DVD. Made in the U.S.A.
